Compassionate, Evidence-Based Therapy

Specializing in Trauma, OCD, Anxiety & Perinatal Mental Health across Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.

Meet Yael Monselise, LCSW

I’m Yael, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) dedicated to helping children, teens, and adults navigate life’s challenges with compassion, care, and evidence-based therapy. My passion is supporting individuals through trauma, OCD, anxiety, and the unique emotional journey of pregnancy and postpartum.

My Approach to Therapy

I believe healing begins with compassion, connection, and collaboration. Every person’s story is unique, which is why I tailor treatment to your needs and goals. My work is rooted in evidence-based approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C in progress)
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  • Written Exposure Therapy (WET)

Research and Clinical Experience

I have worked in research and clinical programs at:

  • Mount Sinai

  • Columbia University

  • Montefiore Hospital

  • Yeshiva University

  • Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group

  • Weill Cornell Medical Center

My research has focused on health psychology, personality disorders, prenatal and postpartum mental health, and child/adolescent school-related anxiety. This experience informs my clinical work and allows me to integrate evidence-based strategies with practical approaches.

I have collaborated with school teams, hospital-based mental health units, and interdisciplinary research programs to support children and adolescents with school refusal, trauma, and medical-related psychological challenges.

Approach to Therapy

My approach is client-centered and trauma-informed. Therapy is tailored to each individual and focuses on skill-building and coping strategies. I aim to provide support in a way that is practical, developmentally appropriate, and respectful of each client’s background and needs.

Experience and Training

With over seven years of experience in both medical and psychiatric settings, I’ve supported clients across Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York through telehealth and clinical care. I am licensed in all three states, ensuring clients can access therapy from wherever they are.

My Healing Philosophy

Therapy is not about quick fixes — it’s about creating space to heal, process, and discover resilience. I believe in walking alongside my clients, honoring their pace, and helping them transform pain into strength. My practice is culturally responsive, neurodivergent-affirming, and deeply trauma-informed.

Ready to Begin?

Taking the first step can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to begin your therapy journey, I would be honored to support you.
